Polestar Award
Deadline for Application:
Applications must be submitted between May 1st and September 1st but must be postmarked by September 1st.
Rationale:
This award is presented to honor members of the Association who have made
outstanding contributions to school library media programs in Illinois.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the award, the nominee must meet at least two (2) of the
following criteria:
1. Active, participating membership in ISLMA
2. Leadership role in ISLMA
3. Positive contribution to the school library media field.
Selection Criteria:
Both sections of the nomination and application form must be completed.
The nomination must be accompanied by a nominating letter and at least
two (2) letters of support explaining the eligibility of the nominee. Please include the names of persons submitting supporting letters. The letter might include
consideration of the following:
Cooperation Leadership
Contribution to ISLMA Legislation
Development of library media curricula Publication
Innovative program development Research
Interest in young people Resourcefulness
Selection Process:
The recipient will be selected by the Awards Committee appointed by the ISLMA Board.
Award:
The recipient will be honored with this award at the ISLMA Fall Conference.
